This product has been hand-dyed by master-craftsman Yukihito Kanai of Amami Oshima based mud-dying company Kanai Kougei. Working to both preserve the craft and find expression within it, Kanai san uses traditional dorozome and other traditional wood-derived techniques that have been passed down in Amami since ancient times. This collaborative project between MAN-TLE and Kanai Kougei was conceived by Kyoto based artisan Shinji Sekizuka for his store Iwakura AA.
