Care

MT-Wax
Designed to evolve with washing and wear, this cloth will soften, fade, and become papery in texture over time. White marks will form due to the changing nature of the wax coating, and sunburn may occur if exposed to light for long periods of time. These changes are considered in the design of the cloth, and we encourage you to enjoy this process. The result is a garment that is personal to the wearer.

If you wish to preserve a Wax garment’s original fit and appearance, we recommend spot cleaning, steaming, and airing in the shade. If water marks appear, we recommend steaming the entire garment. This cloth can be machine washed up to 30ºC with the exception of down garments. We recommend turning inside out and washing on a delicate cycle with gentle detergent. Once washed, pat the garment flat with your hands and pull at the panels to smooth them. Line dry in the shade, and cool iron if required.

Linen
Durable and naturally stiff, linen lifts from the skin allowing for breathability, and becomes lighter and softer with washing and wear. Suitable for year-round wear, and favourable in humid conditions due to its breathable nature.

We recommend hand washing or gentle machine washing up to 30ºC using a net to protect the fabric from hardware. Pat the garment flat with your hands before line drying in the shade. While this cloth is pre-shrunk, please note that some shrinkage may still occur.

Weather
Lightweight with a dry handle, this cloth benefits from regular washing as it becomes lighter and papery in texture, lifting from the skin. High-density, washed, plain weave shirting, suitable for year-round wear and best enjoyed in the warmer months.

Machine wash up to 30ºC, pat the garment flat with your hands and line dry in the shade.

Nylon
Made from a high-density nylon plain weave that has been boiled and permanently shrunk, resulting in a fabric that is highly durable and water resistant. Developed by our partnering mill in Fukui, Japan, this cloth has a subtle dry texture. It becomes soft in humid conditions and remains stiff in dry conditions.

We recommend hand washing or gentle machine washing in cool water using a net to protect hardware. Line dry in the shade.

Mastershield
Made from 100% Giza cotton, known for its strength and durability. Superfine thread is woven at maximum density, then exposed to water. The yarns swell, becoming impermeable and waterproof without the use of any coatings. Dry with a matte handle, this cloth is lightweight and breathable, suitable for year-round wear.

Mastershield garments must be dry cleaned only, however they can be refreshed by lightly steaming.

Down-Filled Outerwear
We recommend spot cleaning with a damp cloth and drying flat in the shade. To refresh the interior of the garment, turn it inside out and treat with an antibacterial garment spray. Hang and air dry in the shade. Check the garment’s care label as it may be dry cleanable depending on outer fabric. We do not recommend dry cleaning MT-Wax, as it removes the wax coating.

Natural Dye Shirts
Due to the nature of the dyeing process, special care is required. Turn the garment inside out and hand wash separately in room temperature water using a natural, neutral detergent. Gently squeeze out excess water. Note that the colour may transfer when wet, and evolve with time and washing. Pat fabric flat with your hands before line drying in shade. Do not treat with harsh chemicals or acidic substances, as this may react with the natural dye.

Knits
Submerge the garment in room temperature water with wool safe detergent, and allow to soak for 5 minutes. Avoid agitation. Drain and gently rinse with cool water. Press out excess water, do not wring or twist. Lay flat in the shade to dry. Please note drying may take one to two days.

Caps
Gently machine wash up to 30º using a net to protect hardware. Gently rub soiled areas on the interior with a damp cloth, and form to shape before drying in shade.

You can find care instructions on the inside washing label of each garment. For products with hardware, such as buttons, tape, and zips, we recommend washing in a net. Trusted colour-safe stain removers are safe to use, but please follow instructions and avoid bleaching agents.
